I have just finished a novel, UNTUNE THE SKY, set in Venice at the turn of the eighteenth century. I am currently at work on another novel, which concerns the murder of a young courtesan in nineteenth-century New York City. My agent is Faye Atchison at Margret McBride Literary Agency.

And so what difference did it make if the character of the Duchess was based partly on Countess Greffulhe, and partly on Mme. Straus and the Countess de Chevigné, and on a dozen others? In a hundred years...who would remember these ladies? But the Duchess de Guermantes would still be alive.
